Who we are

The Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil) promotes Brazilian products and services abroad and attracts foreign investments to strategic sectors of the Brazilian economy.

The Agency organizes diversified trade promotion actions with the aim of promoting Brazilian exports and marketing Brazilian products abroad. The Agency´s efforts comprise, inter alia, business platforms like trade and prospective missions, business rounds, support to the participation of Brazilian companies in major international trade fairs, organization of technical visits of foreign buyers and opinion makers with the aim of introducing them to the Brazilian productive structure and other selected initiatives designed to strengthen Brasil´s brand.

Apex-Brasil coordinates the actions related to foreign direct investment (FDI) attraction into Brazil, seeking to allocate resources in sectors of strategic relevance for the development of the competitiveness of Brazilian companies and of the country itself.

PRESIDENCE

President – Mauricio Borges

Expert in Trade and International Law, Mauricio Borges holds a bachelor of laws (LL.B.) degree, granted by the University of São Paulo (USP), a PhD in International Law and a master´s degree (LL.M.) in European Trade Law, granted by the University of Bristol, England. Besides being a member of the technical staff of Apex-Brasil, he has also worked in innovation and foreign trade areas both in the Brazilian Agency for Industrial Development (ABDI) and SEBRAE-SP.

In February 14th, 2011, Mauricio Borges was appointed by the President Dilma Rousseff to occupy the post of Apex-Brasil´s president, with a 4-year mandate as established in Law No. 10,668, of May 14th, 2003. He took office on February 22nd, in a ceremony held at the Agency´s headquarters in Brasília and attended by Fernando Pimentel, the Minister of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade. 

BUSINESS BOARD

Director – Rogério Bellini dos Santos

Rogério Bellini dos Santos holds a bachelor´s degree in business administration (ICPNF/BH); an international executive Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree (AMANA/SP); an MBA in Electronic Commerce (ESPM), having also attended a post-graduate program in Entrepreneurial Strategy (INSEAD/France).

Working at Apex-Brasil since its establishment, leading sector projects designed to secure the international insertion of Brazilian productive sectors, he has also worked in SEBRAE as Manager for the Central-West Region, Market Manager, and General Manager of the Technical Board, having developed projects with the aim of ensuring the strengthening and insertion of small enterprises through the implementation of business tools and strategies. 

BOARD OF MANAGEMENT AND PLANNING

Director – Regina Maria Silverio

Regina Maria Silverio is an economist who holds a post-graduate degree in Foreign Trade (Fecap and FACESP) and a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in International Relations (USP). She also holds a master´s degree in Sustainable Development (UnB) and currently attends a PhD program in Science and Technology Policies at the University of Sussex (England).

She joined Apex-Brasil in 2003, coming from the Brazilian Textile and Apparel Industry Association (ABIT), where she had coordinated the organization´s export program. The economist, who had previously worked as business planning consultant at SEBRAE-SP (1993-2001), is familiar with issues related to planning, foreign trade and trade promotion, and has experience in project management at the international level and also in the coordination of export promotion projects for 62 different industrial sectors.

Regina Silverio coordinates the Council of Sector Competitiveness for Footwear, Textiles and Apparel, Gems and Jewelry within the Bigger Brazil Plan.
